Getting There

Travel & Stay

Ohakuri Rise is set on Lake Ohakuri, Taupo, New Zealand, and we’d love the trip to feel like part of the celebration. Here’s everything you need to plan getting there and staying nearby — and if anything’s unclear, just ask us.

Getting to Taupo

The closest town is Taupō, around a 30 minute drive from the venue. If you’re flying in, Taupō Airport and Rotorua Airport are both within easy reach. We recommend allowing extra time on the day, as the final stretch of Orākei Kōrako Road follows the lake.

There’s no parking at the venue itself, so once you’re in Taupo you’ll need our wedding bus or a drop-off — see your options below.

The venue is at 2/394 Orākei Kōrako Road, Ohakuri 3083, New Zealand — tap the address to open it in Google Maps.

Where to Stay

We recommend staying at Wairakei Lake Resort, a short drive from the venue. We’ve arranged a 10% discount for our guests — the discount code and booking link are being finalised and will be shared here soon.

Our wedding bus will pick up and drop off directly from Wairakei Lake Resort, with an additional pickup and drop-off point in Taupō CBD for anyone staying elsewhere. Exact pickup times are still being finalised and will be shared closer to the day.

Getting To & From the Venue

As there’s no parking on-site, there are two ways to get to and from the venue on the day: our wedding bus, running to and from Wairakei Lake Resort and Taupō CBD, or being dropped off and picked up yourself (taxi, rideshare or a friend).

Let us know on your RSVP which option you’ll be using, so we can plan numbers for the bus. If you’re arranging your own drop-off, please book your pick-up for the end of the night in advance.
