Ohakuri Rise sits on Lake Ohakuri, Taupo, New Zealand, a peaceful spot a little way from the main centres. Below you’ll find everything you need to get there and choose somewhere to stay, and if anything’s unclear, just ask us.
Getting to Taupo
The closest town is Taupō, around a 30 minute drive from the venue. If you’re flying in, Taupō Airport and Rotorua Airport are both within easy reach. We recommend allowing extra time on the day, as the final stretch of Orākei Kōrako Road follows the lake.

Where to Stay
We recommend Wairakei Lake Resort, a short drive from the venue and set right on the lake. Rooms there tend to book out for wedding weekends, so it’s worth reserving early.
Taupō CBD is another lovely base, with plenty of hotels, motels and holiday homes to choose from. Wherever you land, our wedding bus can get you to and from the day. More on that below.
Getting To & From the Venue
As on-site parking is limited and reserved for guests with special requirements, there are two ways to get to and from the venue on the day: our wedding bus, running to and from Wairakei Lake Resort and Taupō CBD, or being dropped off and picked up yourself (taxi, rideshare or a friend).
The bus picks up and drops off at both Wairakei Lake Resort and Taupō CBD. Exact pickup times are still being finalised and will be shared closer to the day.
Let us know on your RSVP which option you’ll be using, so we can plan numbers for the bus. If you’re arranging your own drop-off, please book your pick-up for the end of the night in advance.
